Keira's cut

Keira's first haircut. She has always said she did not want her hair cut, but finally gave in. I really thought she would not go through with this once we arrived. She was a perfect child this morning. climbed up in the chair, put the cape on and let Ms. Kim go to work. We just cut all the ends.
Final phase! It was so pretty. Brock was next and he was the difficult one. I was getting my color done today and Keira told me I should do orange. She thought that was funny. Mommy didn't agree with her color choice. Photobucket

Brock's haircut

Poor Ms.Kim had to get in the floor and cut Brock's hair. He was fighting us in the chair and she suggested letting him play and she would cut. That worked for the most part, but he was not happy. He also did not like the puppy dog cape!
I had to hold him down so she could get around the neck and ears. He was so mad at us!!
I am guessing Keira took this pic. Even after it was over he was still upset. At least Grammie looks happy!! Ms. Kim got a big tip from mommy today, she deserved it. Photobucket

Gymnastics

Brock has been going to gymnastics and loves it so far. I don't get very many pics due to having to keep up with him. I also used my smaller camera and the pics are not great but they will do.
The obstacle course - he is suppose to do a forward roll after jumping but wants to slide down the mat.
The block pit - he has no trouble jumping into here. The first day I had to get in with him and help, but he has figured this out now.
His absolute favorite thing to do is jump. His only setback is the bars, he thinks you are suppose to crawl under all them and gets mad when I make him flip on one and try to get him to do the correct placements. Photobucket

Bottles for Babies

We collect bottles from our church and fill them with money. This is to benefit a Resource Center in Oak Ridge that helps pregnant women and especially to help turn them from abortion. The kids did all the work this yr, they filled 4 bottles.

Government

In our wed. evening church service we are in 1Peter.  Well, this past wed. the pastor covered 1 Peter 2:13-17.   Basically, Peter is talking about how our Christianity affects our patriotism.
We (Christians) have a responsibility to be good citizens.  Do we always do this?
verse 13: Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority. 14 or to government as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. 15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. 16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God. 17 Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.
Paul tells us the very same thing in Romans 13:1  And then in Romans 13:2 he goes on to tell us that rebellion against authority is rebellion against God.  How many times have I been guilty of this in my lifetime?
God ordanies 5 authorities in our lives : (1) Government (2) Church (3) Vocational (4) Marriage (5) Parental      Here again I am so guilty, so many times I could not count, and so many times I am not aware of.
Verse 13 the word submit is a military term meaning "to arrange in military fashion under the commander," "to put oneself in an attitude of submission".  God's people are to live in a humble, submissive way in the midst of any hostile, godless, slandering society.    Verse 14 tells us to live in obedience to every institution of civil and social order on earth.  This means the President, Congress, Senators, etc.  Also Police, judges, state government, etc.   I learned that even if I don't necessarily care for the man in the position I must respect the "position"   I have been so guilty of this with Pres. Obama.  I can hardly stand to look at the man and I have no respect for him, much less agree with him.  But I have to repsect the position and pray for him as my leader.  This has been very hard to do and I admit I don't pray like I should for him.  I have also let my negative words trickle down to my 3 yr old.  I have already screwed up in this area teaching her respect for our gov't.  Obama comes on tv and she will say 'I don't like him" or " Nobama"    I had told her who Washington was and showed her the dollar.  Well, I overheard her telling my mother about Washinton and my momsaid something about our president currently and I hear Keira say" We don't like Obama, McCain should have won but not enough people went for him"  I have to do better in this area for her sake and mine.   So, my goal is to stop talking so negatively about him and pray for his position.
However, Scripture does tell us not to submit if the gov't tries to force a Christian to do what is against the law of God.
This has been on my mind the past few days and even though it is hard at times to submit to authority in my life, I am commanded to and will strive to do better.

Boys and Girls

I saw these items on the table and just had to take a picture. I couldn't help but smile as I thought about this one simple example of the difference between boys and girls. I did not place these objects here, this is just how they ended up on the table. How blessed I am!! The simple things in life are the best!!! Photobucket

V-day

Brandon had to work most of the day on Valentines Day, but we celebrated that evening with dinner, desset, and quality family time. Keira wanted to have a party and invite the grandparents. Only 1 set was able to attend since my mom had something at her church and my step-mom was sick, but my dad was able to drop by to see us for a few minutes. Papaw and Mamaw Leffew did come and we had a great time. Keira decorating her cake. I had a hard time keeping her out of the icing.
The cake looked more like the 4th of July, but I didn't care. I let her do what she wanted and it was perfect!!

Sunday

What a wonderful day Sunday was. Church was great! The weather was beautiful! Wonderful family time! Who could ask for more? We took advantage of the day and played outside. The kids rode bikes, jumped on the trampoline, played basketball, see-sawed, swinged, hit baseball, and just enjoyed the day. Brock got so mad and pitched a huge fit when he was brought inside to get ready for nap. I am going to have my hands full when spring and summer arrive trying to keep him inside. Keira made the family some valentine smores in the oven, with teddy grahams, marshmallow, and chocolate. So good!!
Yet again, eating more chocolate. She is an addict!!

more pics

I took alot of close-up of Brock trying to get better at my picture taking. I was pleased with several shots. Only wish I had wiped his snot out of his nose. HA!!
Riding bikes. Well, Brock just sits or we push him. I couldn't get Keira to "pose" and could never get any of her looking towards me, she always turned her head or made faces. Typical.
