Birthday dinner

Doesn't matter whose birthday cake it is, the kids want to blow out the candles. They always ask if they can, do you think they are ever told "No"?
Jared, my brother, my gem of a grandfather, and myself.
Instead of going out to eat, I opted to have a dinner at home for my birthday. We celebrated last saturday since we would be leaving on sunday morning for a few days. My brother's b-day is a week after mine, so we celebrated together. My grandfather came down, along with my dad and stepmother and my favorite in-loves. Dad and Peggy provided supper and a great cake. We watched the UT/ALA. game and enjoyed everyone's company. The kids love having family over to the house. A great day!!

Cades Cove

Sunday we went to Cades Cove and it was absolutely beautiful! The colors are amazing and what a gorgeous day. The weather was perfect and we took our time and drove the loop and stopped for a picnic. I think the kids enjoyed just being out of their seats and sitting in front seat and "helping" drive some. Keira rode with Papaw and Mamaw Leffew and Brock stayed with us. We didn't see any bears, much to Brock's disappointment, but saw deer and turkeys.

First High Heels

Keira has gotten her first pair of high heels. She wore mine round the house for weeks and began asking for her own. So, she ended up with these. She actually does well in them, I guess I assumed it would be awkward at first for her, but it wasn't. She walks better in them then I do!
She wants to wear them all the time.
Tattoos are also a stage we are going through. They end up everywhere, on all body parts. I have had to wash them off the cheeks before we go out in public, much to her dismay. Brock also takes part in the tattoo fun.
Keira is still wanting her ears pierced, and I still remind her it hurts. I will take her anytime she wants to go, but she always backs out. Then, it turns to "Why does it hurt?" and so on. Well, how do you explain to a 4 yr old that no matter how you pierce, pain will be involved. Maybe if I sedated her....hmmm. Just kidding!!

Strange isn't it?

Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie? Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend? Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel? Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church? Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute? Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others; but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspaperssay but we question the words in the Bible? Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven but they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there? Unknown A friend sent this to me in an email and thought I would share it. These are so true! Photobucket

Beautiful Day

PayDay was over the abuse from Brock, so he decided to attack. He didn't hurt him, Brock just laughed.
I love this pic!
Doesn't PayDay look so happy to be posing for pics with Brock!
