ice cream fun

While daddy mowed the kids sat and watched him, while eating ice cream cones! Ice cream has become part of Keira's daily diet. When Brock takes his nap, she gets her ice cream. But after supper, they both got a cone and we enjoyed an evening outside.
Brock was pretty much covered from mouth to feet.

is church boring to you?

As I was driving in Knoxville  the other day, I saw this chuch van with this question on it - is church boring to you?  Obviously, they are advertising their church and I cannot recall the correct name of the church.  It has a website, which was plastered on the van and it was something like, New Life or Abundant Life.  I cannot remember due to the fact I was struck by this question.  I have thought about this daily.   What is this church promoting?  What is so different about their church?  Is it that exciting?   As I have thought and thought on this, I cannot get past the fact that if the True Gospel is being presented in a church, then how can anyone be bored?   The Gospel is anything but boring!!  Which leads me to wonder, what is being preached in most churches today?  Sad to say, alot of churches are not preaching the complete Word.  We have everything from God doesn't send anyone to Hell, to Hell doesn't exist, to God wants you to be happy, healthy, and wise or name it and claim it mentality.  Or that there is other ways to heaven besides Jesus!  Off my soapbox and back to that question.....what are people seeking today?  Is it only entertainment, uplifitng services, mainly praise and worship services, mainly stage productions, big lights and a "show" ???
Our world has become an enterianment driven society.  We think we have to be amused, have to have lights, camera, and action all the time.  We get upset if our computer doesn't function fast enough, if we have to wait on anything that makes us be still or takes up our precious time.  We are a fast paced, on the go, can't slow down society.  This has rolled over into church.  How many more people show up for services which is mainly singing or a play.  What about those special times we have for fellowship.  We always tend to have a larger crowd for that.  I am weary of churches that have praise and worship for 45 minutes and only 10 minutes of preaching.  How many "believers" are in these churches who think they are saved, but really may not be.  We know this is the truth, the bible tells us so.  If you watch older children(some) in services, they act like they are bored out of their minds.  Are we doing a disservice to our kids by having them in too many programs and not in church service to hear the word preached?  Don't get me wrong, I am all for children's ministrys and what they do, but I don't want my children growing up thinking they have to be entertained everytime they are in a church.
How many churches are just "entertaining" people and not preaching the gospel?  What kind of "New Life or Abundant Life is being presented?   If more Christians read and studied the Bible, they would find their source of entertainment is present every single second of life.  He lives in us, if we are saved.  What more do we need??

Early b-day gift

Sunday afternoon Brock received an early birthday gift from Papaw and Mamaw. His very own Jeep!! He has learned to drive it pretty quickly, he has had a little practice in the Escalade.
Checking it out!!
Taking Keira for a ride! Earlier, Keira was bumping him with her escalade and with it being larger than his jeep, we didn't think it was funny!! She did. She kept drilling him from behind and the poor little guy got upset, rightfully so. He may have to sue her for whiplash. Photobucket

Rain

Brock and I were in the garage playing and it started pouring the rain yesterday. He wore his rainboots all day, even to gymnastics. Good thing he did, cause it was a heavy downpour in a matter of minutes. Thankfully, it subsided before we had to go pick up sissy at pre-school.
Feeling the rain. He said "wet"
After the rain is over, he decides to get his umbrella and use it. Silly boy!

Final t-ball game

Keira's last t-ball game was sat. morning. We got to bed late the night before and she was tired. She did put forth the effort, but didn't play as well as she did last week. Brock, was in on the action, ready to go. Anytime the ball was hit, he was running after it. We will have no problems with this one, when it comes to playing. I had to stan din the outfield behind Keira the entire game. She was over it towards the end and just wanted to bat.
At the end of the game, the parents all lined up around the bases and the players went around, getting high fives. Well, my child wouldn't do this w/o me and I refused to go. At third base the coach called out their names, and they ran home and received a medal. She wanted the prize! So, I took her to third and she did this part. I have got to cut the cord a little bit! I will be the parent sitting up in Kindergarten every day.
My feelings exactly, little man. Photobucket

Friday evening fun

Friday evening we went to Papaw and Mamaw Leffew's for dinner and fun. And fun it was! These honestly have to be some of the best times as a family. After a great dinner, we played baseball, played in the water sprinkler, jumped in the trampoline, rode in the escalade, made smores by the fire. Simple things, but possibly the grandest.
Brock is hilarious! Keira trying to push Brock over to the sprinkler, he got mad and was saying "push" "push" and put his hands on his chest, showing us what she was doing. Lately, she has been pushing him down with both hands on purpose. She acts like she is falling or something silly and pushes him down. Just wait little girl, he will be bigger than you one day :) The neighbors black lab, a puppy, came over and Brock was thrilled. The puppy chased him and was jumping up on him. He loved it! I didn't get pics as I was filming this. Well, Keira gets upset b/c the puppy isn't coming to her, so I show her how to call for him. Here he comes - he jumps up and scratches down her back. The meltdown begins. The puppy moves on to Brock, who is just laughing as it knocks him to the ground and jumps on him. I have begun filming her meltdowns, so one day she will see what we all endured in her childhood!! Brock would love a puppy, but the hubby said "No" I am a sucker and would get one, but I really don't need another one to take care of right now.

Water day

Keira's preschool had a water play time Thursday afternoon. I took Brock and he got to play with them. All the kids had a blast sliding, thowing water bombs, simply just playing in water. Keira wore the slide out and Brock enjoyed watching all the kids.

My helper

After dropping Keira off at pre-school, I got the bathroom ready to paint. I knew I could not paint with Brock, so my plan was to just have it all ready. Brock is a big helper and was right under my feet the entire time saying "help" "help" I ended up giving him a piece of tape and he would tape something and I would say "Good Job" and he would grin so big. Then, he would take it down and find somewhere else to tape and he did this the entire time. He wanted to help take off the outlet and light covers, but I didn't let him. He got upset and started saying "help" with a hint of anger. LOL

Marshmallow Fun

Tuesday evening we enjoyed the beautiful evening with family time. Daddy worked in the yard while the kids played outside. We then had a fire and roasted marshmallows. It was a great evening.
Brock actually tried to eat one, but he kept handing them to me. Keira likes them black, as does mommy.
